Jeff Koon, Balloon Dog (Blue), 1994-2000

This is an amazing piece has created a very real life like sculpture of a balloon dog out of stainless steal it simply looks amazing and the work being quite extensive from the oil paintings and the miniatures made out of porcelain this does represent a good evaluation to thees large pieces, and there are 5 of thees large dogs in total a Blue, Magenta, Yellow, Orange and Red, they sound very very colourful and simply beautiful, it represents a very clean cut contemporary line to the whole piece and it is very easy to see how it took up to 6 years to complete them, and i think it is quite sad that thees dog have to spent their time apart so much i think they should have a re union some time soon it would look amazing in a gallery space, and it would just simply be really cute to have all of thees dog in the same place at once like a reunion of Koon's pets. but apart from the cute factor and the beauty of the piece it doesn't much of an idea behind it so he has made some big balloon dogs and looking into Koons a little bit more he doesn't really create the pieces himself but uses some what 35 assistance's to create his pieces which i don't Really appreciate in the contemporary art industry, but never the less this is an amazing piece it is truly been a blast on the world of art everyone knowing of his work and the technical applications needed are amazing and it is truly an eye- popping monument in arts history and balloon making.

Peter Davies, The Hot One Hundred, 1997

The hot one hundred is really just a list of work he likes to be frank it isn't really art in its self it is just using the names of artists and works in a child like way in his style of art, i think that this slightly lazy and it does present the question is it the art which has gotten it into the Saatchi gallery or does the gallery agree with the list of names and what order they are in, is this effectively a shopping list for a gallery or is it a piece to the artist which which shows what styles of art he personal likes as it is represented ? but i suppose i do appreciate the use of colour and the style of the writing and the balls he must have had to present a "top 100 artists" is quite impressive is a competitive world of art and to display it in a very well known gallery. But to prove that the is frozen in time and that his tastes of the art world does change and everyone personal opinion he has made the "hip 100" and is continuing the series to a possible "the new and improved hot 100" which i think is better than crating one piece and sticking to it because no one would really stick to their favorite artists some times people have a new favorite every week. So this piece does have a very convenient use to art students because of the list given as a practical recommend list but it also does give an insight into the mind of an artist which i do like to see in contemporary art.

Michael Craig-Martin, Eye of the storm, 2002

At first look this is a mish mash of random object, which have just been thrown into chaos not regarding any fact of size, scale or the relation to each and every other object, i believe that this fact is one element which creates such a vibrant piece that composes of everyday objects to other objects which aren't in every house hold for example not everyone has a metronome and who in the 20th century listens to cassette's? With the handcuffs hiding behind the bucket i believe this is trying to place it as an everyday object in the sense of being arrested so often you have your own collection, or as a personal fetish bringing more personality to the piece but the possibility of hiding the dark secret in hiding it in such a painting what a dark horse. This does remind me of summer thought from the sandal, fan , this and the vivid use of colour which really does bring the piece in to a contemporary/ pop art feel to it i am glad that it is done in acrylic as this would bring such a clear bright medium to the piece and as such a large canvas it would be truly be over whelming almost making you feel like a giant in a acid world, with one hell of a messy room and has allot of hobbies, i truly ardor the scale of the objects as they resemble film props in some sort of Thumbilina movie, you just what to play with everything there, but the relation to other objects for example the light bulb is so much bigger than the bottle and the safety pin is extremal large compared to the original size of it, so what could it be used for example unless he painted a giant nappy for his next piece it wont have much use. This is called eye of the storm which makes me think has there been a storm in his house recently ? Or is it a collaboration of his life thought his belongings which to be hoist i find fascinating, an insight to the artists life other than some past controversial pieces which have been all about the statement rather than the personal applications. This piece one other and an installation layout in the gallery is based on the idea that for a moment they are held still for a few moments in the canvas then released into the gallery space swirling around as objects converted to life which i believe is a beautiful use of gallery space instead of a singular canvas on the wall for everyone to crowd around, and for it to be released into life of course not physically but appearing as it is 'jumping off the wall'. This is communicating to reality by the objects as everyday use and unreal abstraction to the natural world with the bright colours and mix of objects, This pieces to me is describing a world which you would prefer to be, a world which can make drug abuse and crime beautiful i simply want to bask myself in its beauty and want and abnormally large light bulb in my life, this as my first review i think is a very high note as i like it and it has such a meaning and practicality which just makes you fall in love with it, i believe i could easily fill my life with pictures of inanimate object not to be used but yet inviting you to use them extensively.
